Supervision FAQs

How do I start the process of supervision?

Review the different packages HERE then click the “I’m Ready” button to complete a questionnaire. I will be in touch within 48 hrs excluding weekends and holidays.

What if I’m not ready to start my practice now but know I want a practice in the future, what track do I select?

You can start with the basic package and when you are ready to start the process of building your practice, you can switch to the platinum package.

How should I prepare for my 15 minute consultation?

Be ready to ask your questions. Use this time to ask questions that aren’t found on my website or need clarification.

What should I expect to gain from supervision?

A lot! We will discover who your ideal client is while helping you develop your clinical skills to support those clients you work well with. You will learn the difference between professional and personal ethical issues, how to establish boundaries with your clients and recognizing your personal triggers so you will not bring them into your clinical setting. Depending on the plan you select will determine what more you will learn from supervision.

How often do you meet with supervisees?

We meet weekly for one hour. Once you make your initial appointment, we can schedule a time and day that is yours only. If you need to cancel or no show your scheduled appointment, you will be charged for that missed appointment. I will do my best to reschedule you within the week but if that isn’t possible, we will resume at the next scheduled time.

What are your supervision modalities?

My supervision style is to focus on modalities of solution focused, CBT, PE and Relational therapy. As a relational therapist, I help you understand the importance of building sustainable relationships as a professional and personal. The way you present yourself personally is very similar to the way you show up professionally and during supervision it is my role to help you maneuver through various clinical situations.  During supervision you will learn how to develop clinical relationships with your client and provide a great clinical experience while keeping boundaries between the clinical setting and your personal life.

I have a clinical supervisor at my current clinical setting, what is the benefit of having an Independent Supervisor?

That’s a great question and I will answer it this way. Do you currently feel comfortable expressing your feelings about your experience working in this agency? Do you feel like if you were honest about your caseload, you wouldn’t be penalized, and your job wouldn’t be in jeopardy? Do you feel like you can express your desire to own your own practice soon and asking your current supervisor how to get started? Are you able to learn the business side of running a practice at your current clinical site? If you can’t answer those questions with confidence “Oh Yeah, of course” then you might want to consider having an independent supervisor.
